On July 28th, 1917, the streets of the Nation's Capital became a tableau of quiet defiance as thousands marched in the first Silent Parade for Civil Rights. Organized by activist seeking justice, this historic procession sent a powerful statement to the nation: Black Americans deserved full citizenship. Though silent, their presence was resounding.
